G.A.T.A. IV Ranks 5th in PrimeTime Sports 2006 National Championship Tournament


G.A.T.A. IV goes 3-0 in pool play to nab the number one seed and heads to bracket play with a first round bye.

G.A.T.A. IV’s first pool play game was against the talented Houston’s Total Package, having posted a win against them in double overtime in an earlier tournament. G.A.T.A. IV was in for a tuff game. Sure enough it came down to a buzzer beater. G.A.T.A. IV scored in the last second to edge the Total Package 26-25. The next two victories had G.A.T.A. IV posting wins over the Texas Express (45-19) and the Forth Worth Ballaz (46-28).

In bracket play G.A.T.A. IV posted an easy win over a third seed Mansfield Select (47-27). The next elimination game had G.A.T.A. IV facing another third seed - San Antonio Spartans. G.A.T.A. IV struggled to find its range for the first 18 minutes and was down by 8 with 6 minutes to go. G.A.T.A. IV “Got After Them Aggressively” and within 2 minutes put together a string of 3 consecutive three pointers and two easy turnover buckets to seal the game 32-30. “It’s Not Over Until Its Over.” G.A.T.A. IV knows that saying very well after posting its second dramatic come-from-behind victory of the tournament!

In the Elite Eight, G.A.T.A IV faced last years’ PrimeTime National Champions - Urban DFW Elite. G.A.T.A. IV struggled to get anything going early and dug itself a hole which proved to be too much for G.A.T.A. IV to overcome in losing 41-29.

Down but not out. G.A.T.A. IV moved to the 5th place bracket to play against teams which had posted a similar 5-1 record throughout the tournament. G.A.T.A. IV’s first game was against the Champions Basketball team of Dallas, a very well coached and tough team. G.A.T.A. IV proved to be the better team that day beating them 35-24. One win away from the fifth place spot, G.A.T.A. IV faced a great team out of Louisiana - The Opelousas Rockets. G.A.T.A. IV’s inside and outside game proved to be too much as they led wire-to-wire in handing the Rockets a loss (45-37).

G.A.T.A. IV posted a 7-1 record and matched the win/loss records of the 2nd and 3rd place teams. All other teams posted a larger loss record with the exception of the 1st place team.
