G.A.T.A. IV Participates in the 2007 13th Annual Kingwood Classic and posts a 1-2 records, April 20th thru 22nd in Houston, Texas.


G.A.T.A. IV’s first pool play opponent featured a familiar team - The Total Package (TP White), G.A.T.A. IV had the head to head record (1-0) beating them in a Gulf Coast Blue Chips Tournament earlier this year.

But this time TP White put together a great effort and claimed a two point victory in double overtime. G.A.T.A. IV gave up a 10 point lead with 5 minutes left in regulation and a last second lay-up in D.O.T., which proved to be the game turning events. G.A.T.A. IV heads into the second pool play game stunned, knowing that the Louisiana Eagles had already claimed a 20 point victory over TP White earlier that day. The Louisiana Eagles mantra printed in the back of their warm-ups “28 Minutes of Pain”, which prove to be the case.

G.A.T.A. IV faced a full court and half court press for the majority of the game. The Eagles feature a relentless press defense that required the use of 13 players substituting 5 at a time. G.A.T.A. IV's backcourt play forced the Eagles to back down and play a zone defense, which allowed G.A.T.A. IV to take control of the game. G.A.T.A. IV manages to win by one point on a game winning three point shot. G.A.T.A. IV claims the second seed by have a win/lost margin of l as compared to the Eagles 14 and TP White’s -14.

G.A.T.A. IV moves to the Gold Bracket where it meets a old foe - The West Texas Swoosh. The last time they met was during the 2006 Kingwood Classic in pool play were G.A.T.A. IV got the win. This year an improved Swoosh team claimed the victory over G.A.T.A. IV, as well as the Gold Bracket Championship. The West Texas Swoosh has good size, athletic and great basketball skills.
