G.A.T.A. IV Participates in the YBOA National Tournament in Florida and seeds 15th among 31 teams and does not place, July 29th thru August 3rd, 2007

G.A.T.A. IV begins pool play in a five team group that featured the number one team in Georgia and a top five team from Maryland.

G.A.T.A. IV posted an easy first game victory over Team NOVA from Virginia. The second game had G.A.TA. IV playing the Maryland Dream Makers.

This game went down to the wire with G.A.T.A. IV falling short by three points. The Dream Makers proved to be a great match-up for G.A.T.A. IV; the difference was who ever had the final possession and a good look at the basket would win. This unfortunately went to the Dream Makers. The third game had G.A.T.A. IV playing the eventual tournament second seed and the number one team in Georgia. The East Augusta Warriors features a talented point guard (click here for pic) and a 6’5’’ center (click here for pic) . This combination proved to be very lethal for G.A.T.A. IV and the rest of the teams in the tournament. The Warriors finished first in our pool and second overall. The final pool play game had G.A.T.A. IV posting an easy victory over the G-Ville Bulls from Gainesville, North Carolina.

Seeding 15th overall G.A.T.A. IV gets an unlucky break and is placed in the same bracket as the number two seed East Augusta Warriors.

G.A.T.A. IV wins it’s first bracket play game against the Augusta Metro Team and advances to again play the second seed - East Augusta Warriors. G.A.T.A. IV again falls to the Warriors this time by a 14-point margin. Tough draw, G.A.T.A. IV did not anticipate playing the same pool play team so early in bracket play. G.A.T.A. IV moves to the 9th and 10th place bracket to play the Georgia Blazers [a top five state ranked team]. G.A.T.A. IV loses by one point and ends it’s run to place in the YBOA National Tournament. G.A.T.A. IV’s efforts while short of its goal was still very admirable considering that all its tournament loses came at the hands of highly ranked teams who placed 10th, 4th and 2nd in the YBOA National Tournament.
